I was reading the first chapter of Stephen Covey's "The 8th Habit" and I cant helped but really admire the guy for coming up with another book that helped me start reflecting again. The depth and breadth of the ideas and lessons are very much true in our daily lives. He further discusses in one of the paragraphs how the gap between stimuli ----response stands for the "freedom of choice" of each in every one of us. And that no matter how negative the situation is, we are still given the choice (the gap) whether to make the most of it by transforming the negative energies brought about by circumstances to a positive field full of hope, love and understanding.
I would like to share with you a quotation from Ella Wheeler Wilcox:
One ship drives east and another drives west
With the self same winds that blow.
'Tis the set of the sails,
And not the gales,
That tells us the way to go.
Like the winds of the sea are the ways of fate;
As we voyage along through life,
'Tis the set of a soul
That decides its goal,
And not the calm, or the strife.
